Posted September 15, 2008 | 08:26 AM (EST)

The boxes of Obama Waffles for sale at the 2008 Values Voter Summit were certainly racist and offensive, and conference organizers did the right thing by shutting down the sales booth in their exhibit hall.

It was alternative journalists, including those working for Political Research Associates and People for...

Does Sarah Palin share with millions of other evangelicals a nightmare vision of an approaching global battle between Godly Christians and evil Satanic agents of the Antichrist in the End Times? I hope some reporters ask Palin if she shares the vision of an apocalypse soon.

Many evangelical Christians believe...

Palin And The Enduring Christian Right

Posted September 2, 2008 | 06:17 PM (EST)

What McCain is attempting to do by selecting Palin is to close the God Gap by solidifying the base of the Republican Party in the Christian Right, while at the same time appealing to a broader base of White Christian evangelicals. And Palin will appear quite mainstream to most moderate...

Sarah Palin and Christian Dominionist Theocracy

Posted September 2, 2008 | 05:02 PM (EST)

Given Sarah Palin's rather doctrinaire approach to conservative libertarian Christian evangelicalism, her political flirtation with the secessionist Alaska Independence Party (AIP) is hardly surprising, but the AIP's ties to the U.S. Constitution Party raise some creepy issues. It is not fair to suggest that Palin agrees with all of...

Human Rights are Not Political Commodities

We understand the same First Amendment that guarantees separation of church and state guarantees the rights of Christian conservatives to defend their views in the public square, and to seek redress of grievances through a variety of political and social channels.

In recent months,...

Pastor Hagee's Armageddon Politics

Posted May 12, 2008 | 09:27 AM (EST)

An inflammatory first report on the domestic threat of "violent Islamist extremism" issued a week ago via the Senate Committee on Homeland Security turns out not to have been drafted by the Committee at all. The report was drafted solely under the direction of Committee Chairman Joseph Lieberman (CT)-- a...

Huckabee Fails to Keep Southern Evangelical Base United

Posted February 5, 2008 | 10:00 PM (EST)

Republican presidential contender Mike Huckabee started out his evening speech on Super Tuesday with two Biblical references, when in fact, his Biblical base is slipping--but not far away.
