While strapped to a lab bench dissecting bugs in a Swiss village, Karin understood that the environment was her biggest passion. Unable to communicate with bugs effectively, she decided that life could be more interesting if she wrote about other people's discoveries, rather than make her own.

Life led her to Israel, where she is now an associate editor at ISRAEL21c, and where she blogs for the Green Prophet and Carbon Catalog. She also likes to write songs in her spare time: hear Karin on iLike.

Karin is always interested in hearing about new Israeli cleantech ventures, green designers, environment heroes, and community projects. Drop her a line at karin (at) treehugger (dot) com.

More than a decade before the new millennium, Prince had written a song about it. "Party like it's 1999," became a classic and North Americans even used it to usher in the New Year.

According to Andrew Simms, a UK climate change specialist, the world has about 100 months...

With the skyrocketing gas prices, more families are taking family vacations close to home. I've noticed an increase of tent ads in the fliers being sent to my parent's home in Canada, and suddenly all my spoiled friends are "slumming it" by going camping. What's happening?

My dad who...
