Pride and Confusion on the Campaign Trail
As an Obama staffer in Michigan, reasonably often I found myself saying, "Which would be worse: losing your job or having a black president?"

Speaking for my tiny little chunk of the liberal blogosphere, I don't like Joe Lieberman. I was disgusted by Hillary's campaign. And I couldn't be happier with Obama's decisions.
The time to get started has already passed, as the downturn is accelerating. Tomorrow, as Senate Majority leader Harry Reid suggests, Congress should pass a $100 billion down payment on recovery, while instructing the Treasury Secretary to use some of the $700 billion rescue fund to help keep the auto industry from going belly up, with devastating effects throughout the Midwest. But, as this is written, it looks like that won't happen. Republicans didn't get the message from the election, and apparently don't read the financial section of the papers.
I hope Obama's renewed commitment to Afghanistan extends far beyond the mere bolstering of coalition forces. What the Afghan people need is international attention to serious failures in the civil sector.
What better message to send than to appoint as our secretary of state a woman who is already known throughout the world as a principled and gifted fighter for freedom and equality?
Obama's decision to use complete sentences in his public pronouncements carries with it certain risks, since after the last eight years Americans may find his odd speaking style jarring.
Yesterday a document was released that was signed by over one hundred retired generals and admirals calling for repeal of the gay ban.
A student in Iowa contacted E&P with an account much in line with reported incidents of other school kids, some as young as 7 or 8, talking about "assassinating" Obama.
Sen. Reid's new bailout bill for the Detroit Three does not set additional fuel-economy requirements, nor does it establish a government oversight board. That's two strikes against getting our money's worth.
We are eager to work with the new administration. With that being said, we also stand ready to act to hold the new administration accountable if it fails to enforce laws protecting the environment.
"People who say the U.S. doesn't innovate are woefully out of touch with Detroit's standing in this business."
Surprise, surprise, the party of ideological purity that wouldn't yield on anything in the last eight years has had a deathbed conversion about bipartisan government.
This coming January 20 a record breaking four million people will attend his inauguration. This is especially amazing since Barack Obama is responsible for the recession? Aghast, didn't you hear!
Candidates endorsed or "A" rated by he NRA suffered losses in every region of the nation, up and down the ballot, losing not only the White House, but also at least six crucial races for the U.S. Senate.
What a thrill to have as a President-elect a man who speaks in whole sentences, who has well-enunciated thoughts, a readily accessible grasp of history -- and a sense of humor to boot.
How are regular people supposed to get their Brangelooney fix in all those celebrity-obsessed magazines when everything -- from OK! to Us to People -- has become Baramoids.

I don't really care. It is not my business anymore than their frequency of sex, which I will hope is satisfactory at least, and BUTT the HELL OUT.
How are his actions today affecting his chances of fulfilling his election obligations? Now there is a question to kick about in public. Is he acting according to what is needed NOW???? That seems to be at least a relevant question as opposed to where will they worship. Besides, you should already know the answer, Anywhere that they want to worship. This is America, remember?
They should choose a mosque just to see O'Reilly's head explode.
How wonderful of you to post the details and distance of each church.....great info for all the crazies out there!
It's no-drama Obama - so the one thing you can bet money on is that they'll be real careful to check out the background of the minister. They don't want any more stink bombs in the temple.
Since Obama has reconciled with McCain, Clinton and Lieberman, I see no reason why he should not reconcile with Reverend Wright. It just seems to be the next natural move!
I absolutely agree.
