America's Scientific Dream Team
It was just over a year ago that at one presidential debate three candidates identified themselves as not believing in the theory of evolution.

Recognizing that poverty rates on reservations are twice the national average, Native groups called for support to "operate a new crop of renewable electricity generating infrastructure."
Gupta has embraced junk science, has questionable ethics and seems to have been chosen mostly because he is famous. Forget a Team of Rivals: this is the latest example of Obama's Team of Celebrities.
The Obama administration may be about to squander a historic opportunity. By all reports, the economic recovery plan doesn't include a large-scale national service program.
Well, it could've been worse. As 2008 mercifully ends, we're left to ponder a year in which the real and the surreal were pretty much indistinguishable, where insanity actually became tedium.
The 401(k) system is a disgrace. Let's just admit defeat. We are no match for this powerful industry. We need to stop tinkering with these plans, toss them out, and start all over.
Voters in Rahm Emanuel's district will have the chance to redeem their state's reputation. They will likely have the chance to elect, out of a crowded race, a true reformer in Thomas Geoghegan.
The money in this economic stimulus package is a small down payment on what is needed to give the U.S. the world class infrastructure we need.
For too many years Americans have fought against things: communism, drugs, poverty. Isn't it time to fight for something?
The PWA was Wall Street; the WPA was Main Street. The PWA served to stimulate business; the WPA employed Americans. Both served to boost the economy and rebuild the nation's infrastructure.
Sanjay Gupta and Michael Moore -- essentially two experts on health care who disagree ideologically on a range of health concerns -- had a fascinating exchange on Larry King Live.
It's now January, Obama People, and I'm way over this thing. Why, why, why for the love of God are you still sending me emails asking me to give you money? You raised how many millions?
What I want from my new administration this year: a program to address climate change that is stunning in its breadth and scope. The weird thing is: I might get it.
Investing in physical infrastructure will not have the same short-term impact on U.S. jobs, or long-term impact on productivity and quality of life as a similar investment in our "digital infrastructure."
The surgeon general has an informal role as the country's leading medical and lifestyle educator, and it's that role the Gupta is uniquely positioned to fill.
My brother is the COO for the largest non-profit service provider in the city. His family's home is now worth less than their mortgage -- an experience now common to many Detroit area homeowners.

Can't we all just get along?????????????? This is nothing, Dr Gupta worked for CNN; things get stirred up; it's nada, nothin, negative. Let's back Obama's choice!
I lost a lot of respect for Dr. Gupta after his response to "Sicko". Although I think that his support for our Country is honorable, his position was wrong and he attempted to dishonor Michael Moore to support his bosses and those that support his bosses. He lost all credibility with me. I hope that he turns the job down. However, if he accepts the position and he is confirmed, I hope that he can support the agenda of the Obama administration and not derail their efforts to address the current health care challenges that our nation struggles with. We don't need a mouthpiece for the HMO's and other benefactor's of this broken system being the nation's top doctor. Can he support the health care agenda that the President Elect promised us? If he can, let him have the job, if he can't then the President elect should offer a candidate who can and will make good on candidate Obama's promises.
Does anyone know what Moore thinks of Gupta being chosen?
This worries me. Perhaps Gupta will change his stance. Or is this a way to send the message to the right: Hey, don't worry, we won't be persuing universal health care?
This is the first appointment that has truly bothered me.
This is the first one that really bothered me as well after seeing the video. PE Obama has already stated on his website he will keep the current insurance system. I don't think we will fix the healthcare this term. It won't get fixed until it is single-payer government provided for every citizen.
