It's the right of everyone to fairly criticize people or entities and publicly share information but it's illegal to malign the reputation of another through slander or libel.

This book states the obvious truth -- that Scientology is a dangerous cult. That is why Tom Cruise got the book banned from Amazon.

The book's author was a member of the cult as a member of the Sea Org. After leaving the cult he was harassed and threatened by Scientology's members and leadership.

What brainwashed cult members like Tom Cruise do not realize is that information exposing Scientology for what it is all over the Web. One does not have to buy this particular book to find out why Scientology is a scam and a dangerous cult that preys on people's weaknesses and insecurities to survive.

Making a claim that a person is being defamed and proving it in court are two distinct things. Is the power of the Church of Scientology (or at least the perceived power of their attorneys) enough to stop a book from being sold?

Yes.

Ask yourself, why would a "religion" be so secretive and want to quiet it's critics?
What church have you ever attended that has armed guards at the doors?
