Surviving nearly 15 years as a celebrity publicist in Los Angeles has given Thomas DeLorenzo some pretty fabulous stories to tell. Because of his hard work and dedication, DeLorenzo is the person with THE MOST NOMINATED client list in Emmy history for an individual publicist, with 4 nominations at one Emmys Awards alone. Recently, DeLorenzo's client, Kathy Joosten, won an Emmy for her work on DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES.

In 2006, The New York Times chose DeLorenzo as one of the Five Unsung Heroes in the Battle Against HIV/AIDS for his Christmas Goody Bag Project benefiting the hospice clients of the San Antonio AIDS Foundation. The profile ran in The New York Times World AIDS Day Section. In 2008, the San Antonio AIDS Foundation named him their Angel of the Year.

Using his PR work as a stepping-stone, DeLorenzo was able to work with the entertainment surrogate components of the Clinton, Gore, and Kerry campaigns. In 2000, DeLorenzo and his clients attended the Democratic Convention in Los Angeles as guests of Vice President Gore and his family.

As a person living with AIDS himself, DeLorenzo works with various AIDS organizations throughout the country, such as AIDS Search Alliance, National Association of People with AIDS, Pets Are Wonderful Support/LA, Sacramento AIDS Foundation, Being Alive LA, and, his personal favorite, the San Antonio AIDS Foundation.

DeLorenzo also champions women’s health care issues through works with Planned Parenthood Federation of America. In March of 2006, DeLorenzo lobbied Congress on Planned Parenthood’s behalf, meeting with Senators Clinton, Durbin, Obama, and Lautenberg. He attended the NOW Annual Conference in Albany, New York. DeLorenzo was an honored guest of Planned Parenthood Federation of America at the 2004 March on Washington for Women’s’ Health.

In 2003, DeLorenzo produced the very successful theatrical event “Daytime for Planned Parenthood” featuring the acting talents of 12 major Daytime television stars in the play TALKING WITH. Last year, the committee sponsored a cocktail party at the home of Heather Tom, with DeLorenzo producing. Nearly 30 Daytime and Primetime celebrities, including Kate Walsh of GREY’S ANATOMY, attended the evening. DeLorenzo also produced the event in June of 2008, making it another success.

In his spare time, DeLorenzo attends Santa Monica College, taking coursework to prepare him for his graduate studies in Political Science. Recently, DeLorenzo completed an independent study project on Russian NGOs who specialize in the human rights of people with HIV/AIDS. Previously, DeLorenzo earned a B.A. with a concentration in Psychology from Hofstra University.

Some of DeLorenzo's current and former clients include two time Emmy winner Heather Tom, Nancy Sinatra, Nicholle Tom, Bree Williamson, Alison Mack, Chad Allen, Lyndsy Fonseca, David Tom, Jim Turner, Carter Oosterhouse, Cameron Romero and Kathy Joosten. DeLorenzo also currently is working on the marketing campaign for Miss HIV – a documentary about women in Africa with AIDS.

As I begin this entry, I am perplexed and overwhelmed. How did things get so very out of hand and, yet, at times, seem so very uncorrectable? How did our leaders go so very, very far astray, as if they had the government on some kind of autopilot button? We...
