Who Is Aedan Petros, The Man Accused In Rob Ford Lawsuit?

A statement of claim has been filed alleging that Toronto Mayor Rob Ford was behind an alleged jailhouse beating doled out by Aedan Petros on Scott MacIntyre, the former common law spouse of Ford's sister.

Petros -- a 300-pound, convicted violent offender -- was on the football team Ford coached at Don Bosco Catholic Secondary School, reported The Globe And Mail.

According to the statement of claim, Petros conspired with other inmates in the beating, which was allegedly orchestrated to silence MacIntyre on the subject of Ford's substance abuse issues.

MacIntyre was left with a broken leg and several broken teeth.

Sources confirmed to the Globe that Petros and MacIntyre were housed in the same section of the prison when the assault took place.

Petros was in jail in connection with a home invasion and assault detailed in a news update from Toronto Police dated August 19, 2011. The update states Petros' age at the time of booking as 19, and goes on to describe his arrest:

On August 19, 2011 at approximately 0330 hours, a male victim was in his residence when he answered a knock at the door when two males wearing disguises and armed with weapons forced their way into the premises. Once inside, the suspects demanded money and drugs. The victim refused and a struggle ensued. The victim was slashed with a knife about the body, kicked, punched and was forced to the ground. The suspects tied the victim’s hands and feet and threatened him with death. The suspects removed the victim’s iPhone, jewelry and a digital scale. The victim was transported by Toronto EMS to a hospital where he was treated and admitted. As a result of investigation, WILLIAMS and PETROS were arrested at the scene. Located at the scene were a sawed off shotgun and a knife. Charged accordingly.
