Although all focus was on Apple the company earlier this week, it's also the best time in the season to start thinking about apple recipes. From baked apples to sweet apple pies to adding apples in your soups, curries and desserts, apples are one of the most versatile fruits around. About 100 grams of an apple has seven per cent of your daily vitamin C, 2.4 grams of fibre and 52 calories. In fact, even though you may have eaten several types of apples in your life, there are more than 5,000 varieties available around the world.
And an apple a day can keep the doctor away. Studies have found apples to help aide in weight loss, keep you full and even help you fight colds. One recent study has shown eating an apple a day can reduce your risk of heart disease by 40 per cent.
And in case you missed it, last week we packed pumpkin.
