Fresh off of throwing a party for fashionistas at New York Fashion Week, Barbie has arrived in Toronto to take in the sites and sounds of World MasterCard Fashion Week. Not only that, she's welcoming the city's editors, bloggers and fashion lovers to explore her closet. The high-tech installation takes fans inside the doll's fantastical wardrobe, complete with augmented reality that allow users to literally try on some of Barbie's most playful and glamourous outfits of the past five decades.

And boy is she a clothes horse.

Over the years, she's been a beacon of sartorial savviness -- wading her way through "iffy" fashion looks like crimping her hair in the 80s and, more recently, getting a tattoo. It hasn't all been bad, though. She has mastered a few looks, including the swing jackets of the 50s and 60s and bell-bottoms.

The style icon is also celebrating her 53rd birthday -- she was born on March 9, 1959 at the American International Toy Fair in New York.

Check out how Barbie's look has evolved over the years.
