Hollywood has wheeled out its finest goods in time for Christmas, but we can't forget some of the gems that premiered earlier in the year. Here, in a very definitive order, are my favourite movies of the year -- from the dizzying suspense of "Gravity" to the ab workout that was "The Heat."

I cannot believe the difference between the movies offered in 2013 and the ones from 2012. Whereas last year I was struggling to fill a top 10, here I had to pare down my favourites. It's bizarre that it would fluctuate that much from one year to the next, but here we are.

Hollywood has wheeled out its finest goods in time for Christmas, but we can't forget some of the gems that premiered earlier in the year. Here, in a very definitive order, are my favourite movies of the year -- from the dizzying suspense of "Gravity" to the ab workout that was "The Heat."
