Blair Dale, Newfoundland Tory Candidate, Dropped After Past Remarks Surface Online

But the very blogger who exposed Blair Dale is disappointed Tories dumped him.

Another Conservative candidate has been shown the door after remarks he made on social media came back to haunt him.

Blair Dale — acclaimed to run in the Newfoundland and Labrador riding of Bonavista-Burin-Trinity just last week — was dropped by the party Tuesday shortly after his past comments about sex and abortion came to light.

And it appears the very blogger who exposed Dale isn't happy.

The website "Some Random Political Blog" published a post Tuesday featuring screengrabs of comments Dale apparently made on different social media platforms, including Facebook, Google+, YouTube, Twitter, and the dating site Ok Cupid.

The blog gained notoriety last month after its revelation of sexist and racist remarks made by Montreal Tory candidate Gilles Guibord led to his firing. And, just last week, the site exposed "prank" videos made by Toronto Tory candidate Tim Dutaud — including one in which he pretends to have a mental disability — that ultimately ended his campaign as well.

But the blog suggested Dale's remarks were those of an unserious "bro" candidate — from the "same dull frat boy group that populates the middle ranks of the Conservative Party and fills up its candidate slots."

On Ok Cupid, Dale stated he believed creationism could be taught alongside evolution in school and that abortion could be an option in case of accidental pregnancy, but not for "irresponsible" people.

Remarks he allegedly made on a site called Rap Genius, however, were more sexually explicit. He referenced how female orgasms take "a long time" and made some crude comments about oral sex. The site also said he used the term "gay" as a pejorative.

On the matter of diversity in film, Dale recommended on YouTube that "if you want to see more of your race, stop supporting things that aren't about it."

Blogger to Tories: 'Stop firing everyone'

Blogger Robert Jago took to Twitter Tuesday to express his disappointment that Dale was dumped by the party. Jago said his posts are merely meant to "show what Tories think."

In a later post titled "Stop firing people," Jago said Tories were "overreacting" and back-stabbing their own candidate.

"If the Conservative Party fired this guy, Blair Dale, that's on them, that’s a condemnation of them – not of Blair Dale," he wrote. "That guy has said some douchey stuff, but he's well within the spectrum of mainstream Conservative opinion – in fact he's at the progressive end of it on many things."

Jago also wrote that he contacted the party today before publishing the post to urge them to delete Dale's posts and save him from humiliation.

"They let this candidate down. They didn't prepare him, they let him hang out to dry, and with the first bit of attention he's gone. And for no god damned reason," he wrote.

According to CBC News, Dale worked as a staffer for retiring Alberta Tory MP LaVar Payne before launching his campaign.

A Conservative spokesman was curt when asked to comment on the matter.

"He's no longer our candidate," Cory Hann said in an email to The Huffington Post Canada.

However, party spokesman Kory Teneycke told The Canadian Press that Dale was removed because of comments that were were "incompatible with our party.''
