Manuals can be helpful, especially when embarking on a new experience. Car maintenance, house repairs -- you can find what you need to know in a manual. But woman's body after baby? Not so much.

When it comes to bringing a child into the world, a woman's body is where it all happens, from conception and pregnancy, to birth and breastfeeding. So let's celebrate the short- and long-term body changes associated with birth by sharing and demystifying some of the topics left out of most pregnancy guides.

1. Packing some stink

The physiological changes that accompany birth are mountainous and affect women in varying degrees. In the same way that all births are unique, all postpartum experiences are special to each mother and should be celebrated for the places they hold in our parenting journey.

But, instead of keeping these body changes hushed or seeing them as badges worn by seasoned moms, why not share these (and other) adaptations with everyone around us in the hopes of normalizing the realities that come with pregnancy, birth and raising our children.
