Camping Food: 15 Easy Recipes For A Delicious Camping Trip

Camping never tasted so good!

What can seem like a limited set of options for making meals can also be an opportunity if you consider all the great ways to cook over a campfire: tinfoil cooking, direct heat, grilling, and even baking are all options.

The best campfire food takes advantage of the pros of cooking with fire, with a dose of nostalgia thrown in for good measure. Wrapping food in tinfoil and allowing it to cook slowly over the grill is one low-maintenance option. Grilling is a great option for meat and skewers, and you can roast things (marshmallows included) by elevating it over the fire. And with a cast-iron pan or pot, you can even make stews, cakes, pancakes … anything you’d make in those tools at home.

But make sure to keep food safety in mind even while you’re having fun in the great outdoors. Use a properly insulated cooler and pack foods in waterproof bags or containers. Use hand sanitizer if soap and water aren't available for regular hand-washing during food prep. Keep raw food separate from cooked, and cook foods to safe internal temperatures.

With that in mind, here are 15 great campfire recipes that’ll have you itching to get outside.
