Canadian Army's #LikeAGirl Tweets Are Great Tributes To Women

Happy belated International Women's Day!

International Women's Day occurred on Sunday, bringing a score of tributes to outstanding women.

Amid stories that honoured great thinkers and reflected on the wage gap, the Canadian Army used the #LikeAGirl hashtag to great effect with these awesome tweets.

Talk about girl power!

As many as 10,000 women are serving in the Canadian Armed Forces, filling roles across the Army, Navy and Air Force. They serve in a variety of areas such as health care, submarine maintenance and aerospace engineering, according to the Armed Forces website.

The hashtag dates back to June 2014, when feminine products line Always released a touching ad that asked when doing something "like a girl" became an insult.

The ad re-emerged during Super Bowl 2015, sparking a series of tweets that reflected on female empowerment.

It also spawned a sequel, which was released last week.

In addition to the Canadian Army's tweet, #LikeAGirl also brought these inspiring posts on Sunday.

Happy International Women's Day! And here's to all the inspiring women in our lives.
