Celebrity Style Report Card: The Best And Worst Dressed Stars In May 2016

Consider this a sort of celebrity style report card, if you will.

May was a big month when it came to celebrity style.

Not only did it see the 2016 Met Gala and the 2016 Cannes Film Festival (which, we all know, are two of the best times of the year for the fashion world), but it also saw the 2016 Billboard Music Awards, which was a spectacle of good, bad and wild style in itself.

So, in honour of all the red carpet ensembles we saw this month, we decided to grade the most stand-out and outrageous looks that really caught our eyes. Think of it as a celebrity style report card, if you will.

Check it out below, and let us know if you agree in the comments!

Okay, in terms of couple style, Kimye nailed it at the Met Gala. Their matching Balmain ensembles are so them, and we kinda love that Yeezy wore that bedazzled jacket with ripped jeans.

Kendall Jenner had a lot of great looks this month (we mean, hello Cannes red carpet naked dress!), but this has to be our fave look of hers...possibly of all-time. This sheer dress and robe combo is giving us serious old-school lingerie vibes, especially with those feathered details.

We've pretty much established that this is quite possibly the sexiest dress of all-time. And even though Rita Ora wore it first (yes, back at the 2014 MTV Video Awards), we have to say, the youngest Hadid sister made quite the statement when she donned it.

We had such high hopes for Gigi Hadid's 2016 Met Gala look, especially when she revealed on Snapchat that she took part in designing her gown with Tommy Hilfiger. However, all we felt was disappointed when she walked the red carpet. The only consolation is that this was the first time she and boyfriend Zayn made a public appearance as a couple. Sigh.

Grade: C

Madonna at the Met Gala

Madonna's 2016 Met Gala look was definitely one of the most memorable of the bunch, given that her breasts and butt were put on full display. Revealing aspects aside (along with Madge's argument that the criticism for her ensemble was "sexist"), it's just not a good look in general, and definitely doesn't fit in with the "Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology" theme — at least not by the looks of it.

Grade: F

Buckles, sheer skirts, cleavage, oh my! Again, all raciness aside, this dress is just kind of ugly.

Grade: D

Ciara at the 2016 Billboard Music Awards

YAS GIRL YAS! This slinky, liquid silver gown is EVERYTHING on Ciara. We love how it clings to her curves and that deep cut at the side along with the slit just adds to the sexiness. Werk.

Grade: A

Fifth Harmony at the Billboard Music Awards

Okay here's the thing: As much as we love Fifth Harmony, we can't say the same for their style. They never seem to be cohesive, or look like a group. And yes, while they all are wearing black for this occasion, their outfits still don't match. Their hair and makeup though make up for it, however.

Grade: B-

Blake Lively at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival

Blake Lively had a ton of good looks at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival but this CinderellaUrsuala-inspired gown was our fave.

Grade: A-

Susan Sarandon at the Cannes Film Festival

We're a bit perplexed about this look. Yes, we love that Susan Sarandon is wearing whatever the heck she wants at age 69 (as she should), though we're not entirely sure she styled this dress correctly. Perhaps if she had opted for a darker pair of sunglasses, or added a chunky necklace, it would have amped up the WOW factor.

Grade: B-

Sonam Kapoor at the Cannes Film Festival

Sonam Kapoor is basically Cannes Film Festival royalty, meaning she has the regal wardrobe to match. We especially loved this ensemble, with the floral-embellished cape.

Grade: A+

Kristen Stewart at the Cannes Film Festival

We've said it once, and we'll say it again: Kristen Stewart and Chanel are a match made in heaven. We were particularly fond of this super cool dress, complete with those feathered sleeves. And that red eyeshadow? We. Die.

Grade: A

Beyonce at the Met Gala

Yes, this is Beyoncé, and yes, she can usually do no wrong, but once someone described her Met Gala dress as "condom couture," we couldn't really look past that.

Grade: C

Katy Perry at the Met Gala
Ron Galella via Getty Images
No words to describe this, except that it's totally OTT. Wow.

Grade: D+

Britney Spears at the Billboard Music Awards
Allen Berezovsky via Getty Images
Britney Spears made a triumphant return to the public spotlight wearing this sexy number to the Billboard Music Awards. While the combination of the long train, the underwear and the caged thigh-high boots is a bit much, we have to say, girlfriend looks good.

Grade: B-
