Fischer, Huckabee Shame Christians In Wake Of Newtown Massacre

I, like everyone, was clued to my computer and my TV Friday morning. My heart sat in my stomach as I thought of what the parents, family, and friends of those 20 dead children were going through. I can't imagine my nieces, and nephews lying dead in an elementary school classroom. Even thinking of that breaks my heart.

It was the second shooting in the United States in less than a week that got media attention. In both cases I sat back and heard arguments for gun control, and arguments for gun ownership by people with such low class, they see tragedy as an excuse to forward their agendas. But that anger has washed away by something far more vile.

Unapologetic homophobe Bryan Fisher often uses his radio show to preach a twisted, hate-filled version of Christianity, on his radio show Friday, Fischer said, "And I think God would say to us, 'Hey, I'll be glad to protect your children, but you've gotta invite me back into your world first. I'm not gonna go where I'm not wanted. I am a gentleman."

Victims Of The Newtown School Shooting

Fischer said that at the same time the bodies of dead children between the ages of five and 10 remained in the one place they should have been safe. He expressed a vitriolic view of God, so offensive; there is no word in the dictionary to describe what he said. Only a sick individual, with not one ounce of decency in his black soul, would make such a statement.

First off, there is absolutely no evidence linking violence with lack of prayer. Even suggesting that prayer prevents violence is erroneous. The majority of people in America's jails define themselves as Christians. People who believe in some god have molested children, have committed terrorist attacks, and have written laws that execute homosexuals. That is not news. We all know the violence that has been orchestrated by religious people, but this is not a blog about the crimes committed by religion, it is a blog that shows how Fischer, and his cronies view their loving god.

Fischer is not alone. Known sexist Mike Huckabee, who once ran for the Republican nomination for president, agreed with Fischer.

Answer a question by Neil Cuvato, Huckabee answered, "We ask why there is violence in our schools, but we've systematically removed God from our schools. Should we be so surprised that schools would become a place of carnage because we've made it a place where we don't want to talk about eternity, life, what responsibility means, accountability?"

The non-religious shouldn't be the only ones appalled by those two statements. When you believe that God controls everything we do, and has a master plan for us all, and you blame school shootings on the lack of prayer in school, you aren't a friend of God.

When you blame the lack of prayer in public school for school shootings, you are telling the masses that god is petty, and malicious. God is systematically killing people because America doesn't have prayer in school? That is not a nice endorsement for religion. And it should bring shame onto those vile pieces of human waste from Christians, who instead of blaming a lack of prayer for this shooting; decide to pray for the poor souls who lost their children. That is what a moral Christian does.

Conservatives will brush these statements off. Huckabee will still have his show on Fox, and people will still listen to Bryan Fischer spew hate from his filthy mouth. While I don't believe in censorship, you shouldn't support two people who spread that type of garbage. Christians tell us that they have the religion of peace. They tell us God is love. If that is the case, someone should give the news to Fischer and Huckabee. For Christ sakes, Huckabee is a former pastor, and he has these views.

Fischer and Huckabee have essentially told America that God kills children for punishment. They have told their fellow countrymen that God does not value the life of a child, which is what the pro life crowd accuses the pro choice crowd of believing. If you share the views of these two, no words can express how sick you are. And if God is love, like we are meant to believe, he is thinking of a punishment for Fischer, and Huckabee. No just God kills children to prove a point, and no just God would like people of Fischer's and Huckabee's ilk representing him.
