Scientists could have saved themselves a lot of time if they just asked J.K. Rowling why women have orgasms.

On Wednesday, the Harry Potter author responded to a New York Times Science tweet that stated scientists were "pondering an evolutionary mystery: The female orgasm."

Using her signature dry wit, the 51-year-old retorted, "Yes, the prospect of pushing an 8 pound object out of your vagina should be more than enough incentive for sex."

Earlier this week researchers from Yale University proposed that female orgasms have evolved over time. Noting that while orgasms were once necessary for reproduction, they are now more likely to promote partner bonding.
