Jim Prentice Floated As New Maple Leafs Coach On Social Media

It wouldn't be the first time that the hockey team and the Prentice name have crossed paths.

Jim Prentice has resigned as leader of Alberta's Progressive Conservative Party (PC) after their decades-long dynasty fell to an NDP majority.

He could be looking for a new job very soon. Twitter users had some ideas for the soon-to-be-former premier.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are, after all, without a coach and general manager. And Prentice has experience managing a province.

It wouldn't be the first time that the hockey team and the Prentice name have crossed paths. The politician's father, Eric Dayton Prentice, remains the youngest player ever signed by the club, playing five games for the Leafs in the 1942-43 season.

The Leafs are proving to be a popular analogy during Canadian elections.

The B.C. NDP were compared to the Leafs after it was trounced by the provincial Liberals in 2013.
