J.K. Rowling Shares Words Of Wisdom After Trump Elected President

The "Harry Potter" author shares her advice with fans who feel lost after the American election results.

J.K. Rowling took to Twitter early Wednesday morning to share her thoughts on President-elect of the United States, Donald Trump. And she didn't shy away from sharing her advice on how to cope with the results.

"We stand together. We stick up for the vulnerable. We challenge bigots. We don't let hate speech become normalised. We hold the line," the Harry Potter author tweeted in response to a follower who asked how America moves forward after the election outcome.

Rowling, who has been critical of Trump before, went on to note that it is our responsibility to speak up and let "the people who are being intimidated know they're not alone."

"The easy thing is to keep your head down & let the bullies run amok. The right thing to do is to challenge racism, misogyny and hatred," she wrote.

Throughout the evening, Rowling was the target of Trump supports, trolls and online bullies who called her a "bitch, 'libtard' and plenty more." Yet, the author held her ground in the classiest way possible.

"The easy thing is to be silenced because you don't want the insults. The easy thing is to look the other way when it's happening to others," she tweeted.

Earlier in the day, the 51-year-old Brit said regardless of the result, which had "global implications," history would surely be made, and she hoped it would be "the good kind."

It may not have been "the good kind" of result Rowling wanted to see, but for the author to share her advice with the world during these transitional times feels like the bit of magic we all need right now.
