Justin Bourque Caught By Moncton Police With Witnesses Watching

'I'm Done'

Justin Bourque was caught by Moncton RCMP in front of witnesses after a manhunt that lasted over 24 hours.

Michelle Thibodeau witnessed the shooting suspect being arrested in her backyard just after midnight Friday while she was at home with her family in the Hildegard subdivision.

She tweeted what she saw:

Thibodeau, a musician and actress, spoke to CTV's Lisa LaFlamme after the arrest.

She said the SWAT team was driving by her house when, all of a sudden, officers unloaded from a truck and went to her backyard.

Officers were screaming at someone to "come out with your hands up."

Bourque, who appeared to be hiding behind a tree, then came out to police with his hands raised and said, "I'm done."

Officers apprehended him in the backyard and later sprawled him out in the front yard. They then searched Thibodeau's yard for other weapons.

Thibodeau said the RCMP were "unwavering" throughout the manhunt.

"I think we will honour them forever in this community, we always have and we always will," she said.

The CBC obtained footage from one witness, Wade Perry, that appears to show Bourque's arrest. Watch below:
