Movies Without White People Last Around 30 Seconds

Take The White People Out, And These Movies Are Seconds Long

It's no secret Hollywood has a diversity issue — you need only look at the posters for popular movies to see that. In this year's Hollywood Diversity Report, minorities were found to be underrepresented as leads in films by a ratio of two to one, while the people running the studios were found to be both white (94 per cent of all executives) and male (100 per cent).

But those are numbers, and if movies have taught us anything, it's that people understand things better when they're on the big screen. So the creator of one Tumblr account, Every Single Word (full name Every Single Word Spoken by a Person of Color in [Mainstream Film Title]), is taking it upon himself to show people exactly what it looks like when you remove white people from popular movies.

Creator Dylan Marrow is a writer and performer (he acts as Carlos on podcast "Welcome to Night Vale"), who launched the account in June, receiving a flood of coverage ever since.

But that hasn't stopped him from continuing to add to the collection, including his newest cut, "The Wedding Crashers."

Considering a recent report from The Hollywood Reporter detailing audiences' desire (and associated spending power) for more diversity in casting films and television shows, you'd think movies would follow suit.

Hopefully producers and directors (a segment of the industry population that could also use a diversity shake-up) will take this under advisement. But for now, take the depressingly short few minutes to watch these movies without any white people in them at all to drive the message home.
