Nickelback has cancelled all the remaining dates on its North American tour as vocalist Chad Kroeger undergoes surgery for a cyst on his vocal cords.
The Vancouver-based band behind hits such as "How You Remind Me" and "Photograph" was set to play several dates into September as part of the "No Fixed Address" tour.
But they've had to put off their plans as Kroeger undergoes an operation and rests his voice for three weeks, said a Tuesday news release.
"I am sorry I have to interrupt the party this summer and I am definitely not thrilled with the prospect of being silent for many weeks to come when I could be out there playing for fans," Kroeger said in a statement.
The band circulated a video on Twitter explaining why they'd have to cancel their concerts.
"Sometimes these things happen and we need him to properly take care of his voice," guitarist Ryan Peake said of Kroeger.
The band said they would still go ahead with their No Fixed Address tour dates in Europe, starting in Helsinki, Finland on Sept. 30. They expect to tour North America again in 2016.
We've been pretty rough on Nickelback in the past.
But a cyst on Chad's vocal cords sounds pretty serious. And we certainly feel for fans who won't have a chance to see their favourite band rock out this summer.
So Chad, please accept our wishes for a quick and full recovery.
