Canadian Ian MacNairn spent months learning to walk again after an SUV slammed into him. Instead of taking it easy, he decided to use himself as a research project: “How far can someone with Type 1 diabetes go to transform their mind and body?” He would have to push many limits to reach a 125-kilometre “death race.”
