The veggie we know all know that lives under the sea has a pretty big reputation in the health world. Dubbed as one of the superfoods of the future, seaweed is packed with fibre, protein and has very few calories.
And while most of us are familiar with seaweed on our sushi, it can be eaten raw, baked, dried or cooked. It also comes in many forms, ranging from a leafy seaweed called Irish moss to kombu which is a type of kelp from Japan, according to East Coast Living. The most popular type of seaweed for cooking, however, is wakame.
Here's what you need to buy this week, while the other necessary ingredients (like pepper, salt and oils) are likely already in your kitchen.
