Surrey Mall Shooting Kills Man

One man is dead after he was gunned down outside a busy south Surrey shopping mall on Wednesday.

"This person was approached by a suspect or suspects and appears to be a victim of a targeted shooting," said RCMP Sgt. Drew Grainger to The Huffington Post B.C. The shooting occurred around 7 p.m.

The victim suffered multiple gunshots to his "upper body region" outside Steve Nash Fitness at the Morgan Crossing shopping centre at 15765 Croydon Dr., said Grainger. He was declared dead when police arrived on scene.

UPDATE: The shooting victim has been identified as Craig Widdifield said the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team, who confirmed the incident was gang-related.

No other injuries were reported.

Several witness reports have been collected by police. It remains early in the investigation to determine if the shooting is gang-related.

Police are looking for a dark coloured Jeep Cherokee that was seen driving away from the crime scene shortly after the shooting.
