Stars, 'Hold On When You Get Love And Let Go When You Give It' Video Premiere

PREMIERE: Stars Celebrate Love and Drag Queens In New Video

Stars latest album "The North" came out last fall, and this video for their electro-pop epic 'Hold On When You Get Love And Let Go When You Give It' wasn't exactly shot last night. But it sure feels fitting that The Huffington Post is premiering the video moments after the U.S Supreme Court struck down the Defense of Marriage Act banning same-sex marriage and overturned California's Prop 8 ban.

While the love song's lyrics only hint at gay rights issues ("There's been a lot of talk of love / But that don't amount to nothing / You can evolve the stars above / But that doesn't make it something") the video, co-directed by Torq and George Vale, turns the song's subtext into a celebration.

"I wanted to make a video that celebrated the following things: 1. being yourself 2. being someone else 3. being fucking fabulous 4. showing up, putting on your heels and staying alive," says Stars singer Torquil Campbell. "Drag queens know a couple of things the rest of us choose not to know: you are who you imagine yourself to be, and you can be a star even if -- especially if -- nobody ever knows who you really are.

"That's the spirit of pop, and this is a video for a pop song that most people will never hear, so I thought it all went together like Sonny and Cher. Hope you all enjoy it!"

We are also happy to announce Stars U.S. tour dates for the fall.
