Tess Holliday is taking on models who refuse to call themselves "plus size."
On Monday, the size 22 model took to Twitter to to share her feelings on the hypocritical behaviour of her peers who get paid to pose for plus size brands, yet decline to use the label in reference to themselves.
Holliday, who became the largest plus-size model to sign a major modelling contract, has been an activist for the issue and chosen to "embrace" the term. In a recent interview with The Huffington Post UK, Tess said, "I'm plus size. It's just a word. I think people that want separation from the word are focusing on the wrong thing."
There has been much debate over the term "plus-size" this year. Recently, retailer ModCloth decided to get ride of their "plus" section on their website and integrate it into the rest of the store. And models like Stefania Ferrario have called upon the modelling industry to #droptheplus.
On the other end of the spectrum, there are models like Ashley Graham, who don't believe in the term "plus-size". In an interview with ET, Graham said, "It's the stereotypes. That's what I really don't like. I am me. Take it or leave it."
