Talk about a #majorfail.
T.J. Maxx pulled a t-shirt from stores after it received backlash online over the incredibly offensive design: a rope shaped as a noose paired with the phrase, "Hang Loose."
The image was brought to the world's attention after Twitter user @PsychoGF_ posted a photo of the shirt, which she says she found at a T.J. Maxx in Kissamee, Florida.
"It is absolutely sickening that @tjmaxx thinks it's okay to sell a shirt like this," she Tweeted.
The retailer replied to her Tweet and asked where the shirt -- made by California surf brand Tavik -- was spotted. They then quickly pulled it from T.J. Maxx stores.
Tavik also apologized on Twitter, saying the shirt would be pulled immediately from stores:
Naturally, other people weren't impressed by the shirt. Some were offended by the racial undertones of the noose -- a reference to lynching.
They were also disturbed by the image of suicide being used to sell clothing:
T.J. Maxx isn't the only retailer in recent memory to sell horribly offensive products. Last year, Urban Outfitters sold a t-shirt emblazoned with Kurt Cobain's suicide note and Sears was caught selling a Swastika ring.
