Liam and Sophia are Canada’s most popular baby names of 2016.
BabyCenter.ca released its top 100 list based on over 50,000 parents who registered their baby’s name on their site this year. Rounding out the top three names for girls was Emma and Olivia, while for boys it was Noah and Lucas.
Interestingly, the top three girl names are the exact same as last year, however, Sophia moved up from third place to rank at first. As for boy names, Liam is number one for a second year in a row.
According to BabyCenter.ca editor Ann Elisabeth Samson, “we don’t see nearly as much movement in the very top names from year to year.”
Canadians have always loved traditional names, which is why they continue to dominate the charts.
