In April's edition of Elle Decor, Maxine Granovsky Gluskin, president of the Art Gallery of Ontario's board of trustees, tells the magazine her travels inspire her home. The philanthropist reveals that the portraits in her home are manipulations of old flea market finds, similar to one she once spotted in Buckingham Palace.
But the home didn't always look this open or elaborate. Fourteen years after falling in love with the Forest Hill find, Gluskin decided to renovate the kitchen with the help of interior designer Candace Shaw and architect Shawn Freeman. Before long, the home was completely redesigned, resulting in what Gluskin now calls a "very formal house."
In 2012, Granovsky Gluskin and her Bay Street financier husband, Ira Gluskin, were named by Toronto Life as one of the most influential couples in Toronto. Outside of the AGO, the couple actively runs a charitable organization which donates thousands of dollars a year to various organizations and communities in the GTA.
