Video: Pope Francis Revealed To The World (PHOTOS)

Catholics all over the world watched the balcony of St. Peter's Basilica on Wednesday with anticipation as it was finally announced: "Habemus Papum" — "We have a pope!"

Pope Francis, formerly Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio of Argentina, has been elected to lead the Catholic church. As is tradition, he stepped out onto the balcony of St. Peter's overlooking a massive crowd of pilgrims to deliver a hello and a prayer.

The new pope looked stunned as he shyly waved to the crowd, quipping that the cardinals had had to look to "the end of the earth" to find a bishop of Rome.

He led a prayer for the papacy, the church and for his predecessor, the retired Pope Benedict XVI.
