'X-Files' Reboot: David Duchovny Gives His Seal Of Approval

Mulder? Check. Scully? Check. Let's Do This

Hope is out there. It is.

Now "X-Files" fans the world over can finally start to get really excited; Fox Mulder himself -- David Duchovny -- told USA Today that he'd be completely willing to return to the sci-fi franchise if it was rebooted.

"I'm more than happy and excited to bring it back and do it again with [co-star] Gillian [Anderson] and [series creator] Chris [Carter]."

This statement follows Anderson's proclamation to Nerdist during a podcast: if fans could convince Fox TV to reunite her with Duchovny for a new "X-Files" series, she wouldn't hesitate to sign on.

And that's not all! At the Television Critics Association winter tour, Fox executives admitted they were discussing the possibility of reviving the super-popular supernatural/extraterrestrial investigation series.

Based on each star's statement and the information provided by Fox, it seems like the series would take on a different structure, but at its heart it would be the same ol' show, featuring Mulder and Scully investigating classified unexplained phenomena. It's pure speculation at this point, but the new "X-Files" would more than likely be a miniseries or a short series of six or eight episodes.

Keep watching the internet for updates.
