Spring 2012 runway collections have given us the license to experiment—big time—with handbags and purses. My favourite inspirational silhouette this season? The backpack.
Yes, that’s right, the backpack, that old standby from your childhood. So practical! It’s my favourite alternative to a purse. Get a large one for day and a small one for evening, leaving you absolutely hands-free, yet still stylish.
Backpacks were all the rage on spring runways (read: Alexander Wang’s Spring 2012 collection and The Row’s $39,000 alligator backpack) and now they’re popping up in-store. But the educational go-to is totally made-over. I love backpacks in luxe leathers, cashmere-soft shearlings and supersoft furs, but my favourite are playful prints and bold brights.
