Accretive is a word we use a lot. It is the process of improving something, making it better. While adding value gets talked about a lot across aspects of business, consumer products, services and even in the financial industry, it is a little different than being accretive.
In the beginning of the 21st century, should Canada, an industrial nation of the G8, have a diversified, knowledge-based economy? Or will we allow ourselves to again become a ''company town," an economic dinosaur at the mercy of the price fluctuations of the market?
The story and process behind a product is every bit as important as the product itself. The intangibility of what went into what you're buying gives it life, identity and value. Something purchased from Amazon isn't just "less expensive," but carries the entrepreneurial history of Jeff Bezos, the marvel of the company's state-of-the-art robotic selection and distribution system, and so on.
