big brothers big sisters

BBBS has started a public fundraising campaign.
I lived in poverty growing up. I dealt with social issues no child should ever have to deal with: bullying, low self-esteem and self-confidence, and their impact of my grades. My father unexpectedly passed away when I was 12 years old, and as a result, my mother worked two jobs to support my sister and me.
My daughter would come home sad everyday. She would cry every week. We would have pep talks regularly, but I could not mend her broken heart. I could not take back the words kids said to my child. Her loneliness haunted me. As a mother, I was watching a child dying on the inside. It was like watching a beautiful flower wilting in the cold.
