We all have inherently lazy tendencies. Well, at least everyone I've ever met does. It's not necessarily a bad thing or something to be ashamed of. It just is what it is We all want to do less work with better results. And I think that's a really good thing. It is actually what drives my whole business: the philosophy of working smarter and not harder.
One of my bigger struggles as a professional organizer is how to translate my routines and processes into sharable tips and advice. So much of how I live my life in terms of my daily routines have become so automated that it can be hard for me to realize its efficiency until I step back and look at it.
January is GO Month, as in "Get Organized". Every year the goal of getting organized makes it's way onto the top of resolution lists, so it makes sense that GO Month is the first month of the year. But as the novelty and enthusiasm of everyone's New Year's resolutions slowly begin to fade I wanted to share some simple habits that you can introduce now, that will help you to stay organized all year long.
Declutter. Even if you think that you only have what you absolutely need in the space, do it again. Try to minimize the excess... When you have a small space it is especially important to save room for only what you really need, really love and really use.
Our homes should be for the pieces that we really love or really need. Why have things if not to enjoy them. And on that note, if you're holding onto things that don't' "spark joy" (as Marie Kondo would say), then maybe it is time to just let it go.
While organizing a space isn't rocket science, it's not always intuitive either. There are so many things beyond our control that can contribute to a lack of organization. Both major and minor life events can cause our plans to shift and our routines to go out of whack. School ending, a change in jobs, the birth of a new baby, adding a family pet, the death of a loved one. It's not always easy to adapt to these changes without feeling overwhelmed.
Before I ventured into the now growing market of fashion blogging I was not only unaware of the adventures of strangers but possibly happier for it. I did not think that life could be a series of selfie-taking, beach vacationing, perfect lunch eating scenarios. More so, it never occurred to me that this is what some people called work.
Many conflicts come from inappropriate expectations in relationships. Ask yourself if you are expecting your friends to act and be just like you. I encourage people to not expect others to be just like them because this is the road to sure and constant disappointment.
