So many hours and days of my life I focused on what was not working. Then I learned about gratitude. The more I practiced repeating my gratitude lists, the more natural it became for me to see the positives in people and situations, and to be grateful for all the small, wonderful things occurring in my life.
We all have the choice to give up or tackle our challenge. There are many different challenges we will all face in our lives. I hope that my story of the biggest challenge I've faced so far, and my decision to push forward everyday will inspire you to also make the choice to tackle any challenge you face.
Without limiting your day-to-day decisions, you can easily burnout on the decision-making process, which leads to poor choices and the potential for error. This phenomenon is otherwise known as decision fatigue.
I've found that once I've made a major decision, it wasn't as scary as I thought it was, and I wonder what too me so long. When you step outside your unhappiness, you find that there is a life and it is there for the taking. It is just getting over that first hurdle of making a move and once you've jumped that... you can win. You can get ahead.
The "Uh-oh! Moment" marks a realization, a grasp of a situation marked by despair and anguish. But it's within that grasp that most of the time, you start climbing out of the abyss. Once you're questioning what you have done, you start answering. And once you start answering, you start moving in a new, upward direction.
You hear people saying decisions used to be a lot easier; less 'stuff' meant fewer choices, with circumstances often doing the decision-making for you. So many aspects of our lives consist of an abundance of choice. The paradox of choice is an interesting issue to discuss, and despite its complexity, I believe it actually has an easily adaptable solution: simplify your life.
As I reflect on my past experiences, I understand and have internalized the importance of making positive choices. I know that I generalize, but I truly believe that the more choices we make, the more alive we feel, and the more alive we feel, the healthier our choices.
