Rule #1: No coffee before 10 a.m.
Coffee: the best thing to ever happen.
I do my best to limit my consumption to the morning hours. My reasoning behind this is that cortisol levels (responsible for breaking down energy stores) are naturally elevated in the morning and decrease throughout the day. Coffee also transiently raises cortisol levels, so drinking coffee first thing in the morning when levels are already high can theoretically increase fat burning.
