If city charters are passed without true consent from the people, our fate is clear. We can expect new taxes, new levies, new fees, without change set aside to even afford new pants with deeper pockets. Our premier should do the right thing and put any new city taxes to a referendum.
In April 2015 Edmonton city council unanimously passed the Edmonton Community Energy Transition Strategy. Don Iveson supported the plan and he is a big believer in the capacity of local governments to get stuff done on climate change.
Wendell (Woody) Cormier, a paranoid schizophrenic homeless man from Toronto, got up to the microphone last Thursday and told the audience bluntly, "If you force a man to stay outside and freeze to death, and then blame the cold; it's like making a man walk the plank and blaming the water for him drowning."
