Wait, "It's All Coming Back To Me Now" is being used to promote ... football?
During this weekend's golf at St. Andrews, the venerable Sean McDonough let slip the equivalent of an expletive on ESPN's coverage. "...the British Open -- the Open, pardon me..." The tournament was in Scotland, which, last I checked, remains in Britain.
I believe that if anyone could ever duplicate "the experience" of fantasy sports, and find a way to apply it to other genres outside of sports, it could be a huge success. Recently, I've found a couple of great examples that have successfully transitioned the fantasy sports experience, and brought it to new pop culture audiences.
It hurts to see four NHL teams in ESPN's Top 10, and it hurts that those four teams are the Anaheim Ducks (2nd overall), the Los Angeles Kings (5th), the Tampa Bay Lightning (6th), and the Chicago Blackhawks (10th). So, our biggest rival, and a bunch of rollerblading sunny American parking lots? Just great.
