how to be organized
You'll be grateful for this come tax season.
Our homes should be for the pieces that we really love or really need. Why have things if not to enjoy them. And on that note, if you're holding onto things that don't' "spark joy" (as Marie Kondo would say), then maybe it is time to just let it go.
I often say that there is no magic wand to get you organized. And there isn't. But there are a few tricks you can use to maximize the space that you already have that can seem like magic (kind of). I recently reorganized a client's kitchen and we cleared out no less than eight junk drawers.
Don't get me wrong, I love to do things for and with them, but I also want them to be independent and give them the confidence to know they have the capability to do these things on their own. It's not just their toys that need to be organized, other areas of your home can contribute to their autonomy as well.
Call it what you want, the vestibule, mudroom, foyer, it's the first impression you have of a home and if you don't have a good organizational system setup that works for you and your family you will constantly be fighting a losing battle. Much like any other room that needs organizing there are many factors that come into play that will help determine what is going to work for you.
Getting organized doesn't need to be about a complete overhaul of your entire house. Most of us don't have hours to set aside to reorganize an entire room, so try to zone in on a smaller area of the space that is contributing to the larger problem. Here's how to get started.
Every time you go shopping, do groceries and pay for parking your wallet tends to increase in size. Unfortunately this is not because it's getting filled with cash, it's those pesky paper receipts. You finally get so fed up that you rip them all out of there and either throw them out or shove them into a drawer somewhere.
The holidays are typically filled with pleasant traditions and memories, but staying organized and prepared for all the festivities can be a stressful affair. Why not give yourself some extra time and check off items using an easier approach?
