The current landscape of division has heighten what it means to be Canadian.
Although the friends, connections and lessons gained through SHAD stay with you long after the program, it's supposed to be one of those once-in-a-lifetime opportunities. I am one of the lucky few who got a second chance to experience it, albeit through a different perspective.
Juno-nominated rapper Shad will take over from disgraced Jian Ghomeshi when "Q" relaunches in April.
Shad is one of the artists who came out to lobby for the much-needed tax to go towards the arts. He's an ideal person to speak to decision-makers about art, because he fulfills the fantasy about what an artist is and defies the stereotype at the same time.
