The whole speech was an hymn for democracy, aiming to remind us that after all this time, since democracy was first born here in Greece, its flame still fuels the progress of our society. He reminded us that democracy is neither perfect, nor complete.
While the burn of politics and sport may continue to persist, let every individual know that they remain free to create society as they know best. And to achieve that with their own passions for the ideas they hold dear. We don't need a president for that.
There are not enough people willing to be a voice for the voiceless. Hate has been simmering just beneath the surface, lurking in the shadows, and we have been content to sit on the sidelines, hoping others will fix it for us.... We've blessed bigots with our patience. Hate is learned and fear is contagious. We teach each other to be afraid of anything different from ourselves.
We live in a society that always wants more. A better job, a nicer car, a bigger house, a bigger paycheque, a great title, and so on. However, each of these wants comes with a price.
As digital natives, our adaptability to change is far superior than generations past. We swiftly adapt from VHS to DVDs and record players to cassettes to CDs and MP3s. We know what a floppy disk is yet can operate our digital lifestyle almost exclusively on Cloud. Our potential is limitless and our ambition is uncapped. We are pretty brilliant.
Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) are hot buzzwords these days. Execs can now add the Oculus to their treasure trove of executive toys, right next to their now discarded Google Glass headset. Really luck people can get ahold of the Hololens and Meta headsets to get into those early stages of AR. But, what gives? What's the future really going to hold? Why does any of it matter?
