For sometime now, there have been several instances of hate against Pakistan by political parties. On Saturday, a drama by a few Pakistani actors in Gurgaon were disrupted by men who claimed to be from Shiv Sena.
The ban on artistes, writers and sportspersons from across the border has seen a lot of hate politics over the couple of weeks.
Riled by these recent incidents of Pakistani artistes being banned in the country, 36-year-old Mumbai-based Ram Subramanian, decided to take matters in his own hands.
"It had been brewing in my head ever since I heard of a series of bans and attacks. Most of us common blokes don't feel such hate nor want these fights. And when you close the doors to art you open up a door for dark and unwanted things to come in," he told Times Of India.
He started a campaign called #ProfileForPeace, asking people to join in if they wanted to raise their voices against hate politics. And, people did.
The hashtag campaign won hearts and minds and has gone viral on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
Thousands of Indians from Kerala to Kashmir and Pakistanis from Lahore to Karachi are changing their profile pictures to one with a little love note scribble that says where they are from, that they don't hate each other, and are only being divided by hate politics.
Not because every1s posting this., i posted cos I mean it!!!
