EU Parliament's Rights Body Chair expressed concerns over deteriorating rule of law in India.
Shashi Tharoor, Prashant Bhushan and Meena Kandasamy have reacted to Amnesty's announcement.
The organisation said it was compelled to let go of staff in India.
Amnesty said its investigation was specifically about the Delhi Police since there had been no probe thus far in the rights violations by the police during the February violence.
India awarded as many as 136 death sentences in 2016 as compared to 75 death sentences in 2015.

Former Pakistan Ambassador to the US, Husain Haqqani recently tweeted about human rights violations in the two major disputed areas of India and Pakistan: "Dear Indians and Pakistanis, human rights violations are wrong whether in Kashmir or Baluchistan. Stop using one to stop discussion of other." He is right.
