A group of prominent social activists has issued a joint statement asking the Dalit and Maratha communities to desist from provocation on social media.

An NCP leader has been booked for abetment to suicide after Arvind Bansod’s death, but Prakash Ambedkar and others allege gaps in the police investigation.

WhatsApp confirmed to Indian Express that a number of journalists, activists, lawyers and academics were targets of surveillance. It has sued Israeli surveillance firm NSO Group, accusing it of helping government spies break into the phones.
