Opposition in the dark as contractors begin first level checks on voting machines to be used in Maharashtra and Haryana Assembly elections scheduled for later this year.

The candidate was angry that names had not been displayed properly on the EVM.
The photograph will be printed on the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) ballot units as well as on postal ballot papers, the EC said.
The Election Commission has asserted that it firmly stands by the ‘foolproof nature’ of its machines.
The poll panel reiterated that the EVMs used by it are manufactured by BEL and ECIL, both state-owned, under “very strict” supervisory and security conditions.
