Alexis Buryk

Retired former SVP Advertising for The New York Times Company. Working now to raise money to cure Late Onset Tay Sachs.

Alexis Buryk joined The New York Times in 1977. She managed several categories of business as sales representative, Managing Director and Vice President, leading to a promotion to Senior Vice President of Advertising in May 2005. During her tenure, she was responsible for the sales and marketing efforts of a 400 person staff. She retired in December 2012 after 35 years with The New York Times. Since her retirement, Alexis has worked tirelessly to raise money for a cure for Late Onset Tay Sachs. Her 28 year old twin daughters were diagnosed with this rare genetic disorder in November 2014. Her efforts have resulted in over $260,000 donated to the National Tay Sachs Foundation for the Allie and Katie Buryk Research Fund. Four research grants have already been funded and she will continue to pursue a cure.
