Adam M. Messinger, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Justice Studies and Women's & Gender Studies, at Northeastern Illinois University. There he teaches courses on criminology and inequality, research methodology, men's violence against women, and violence in lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) communities. His research focuses on intimate partner violence in the relationships of LGBTQ individuals. He is the author of numerous research journal articles, as well as the book "LGBTQ Intimate Partner Violence: Lessons for Policy, Practice, and Research" (University of California Press, 2017, www.ucpress.edu/go/lgbtqivp). Dr. Messinger is a proud native New Yorker, lives with his family in the beautiful Windy City, and remains ever-optimistic that the NY Knicks and Chicago Bulls may one day again remember what the heck to do with a basketball.
