President and Chief Operating Officer of Concern Worldwide U.S.

A 30-year veteran of international aid and development work, Áine Fay is the President and Chief Operating Officer of Concern Worldwide U.S., serving as the day-to-day leader overseeing the operations of a growing team of more than 50 people engaged in programs, development, communications, advocacy, development education, finance, and administration. Trained as a nurse, Áine joined Concern in January 1983, and what started as a two-year volunteer contract in Bangladesh has turned into a 30-year long commitment. Áine has lived and worked in some of the world’s most difficult environments, including Ethiopia, Uganda, South Sudan, Haiti, and Afghanistan. Before joining Concern U.S., she served as Country Director in Pakistan, where she oversaw $40 million in programming, including Concern’s RAPID portfolio, a $29 million emergency response fund channeled through national and international NGOs. She also led the organization’s emergency response to the devastating floods in 2010, which affected more than 20 million people, and the subsequent flooding in 2011 and 2012. In addition to long-term field assignments, Áine also worked in Concern’s headquarters in Dublin and is part of the organization’s Emergency Response Team, which deploys within 24 hours of the onset of disasters. As part of the team, Áine spearheaded Concern’s emergency response programs in Indonesia, Ethiopia, South Sudan, and Haiti following the devastating earthquake in 2010.
